PROPOSED CHANGES ... NOVEMBER 2009
California ASCD, a non-profit organization, operates under the provision of established bylaws. In June 2009, the Leadership Council worked to modernize the bylaws. A draft was completed in October. Accordingly, any bylaw changes must be voted upon by the current membership.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Article V - Elections
Section 1 – Officers and Leadership Council
Changes were made to simplify the leadership structure as well as strengthen leadership continuity through officer and Council changes.
Section 2 – Terms of Office
A change in language increases the opportunity for CASCD members to serve in a leadership role.
Section 4 – Operations Committee
A change in name to “Executive Committee” and in function to more accurately reflect the nature of the work involved in running the organization and to strengthen the financial health of the organization.
Article VIII – Publications
Added language to increase partnership opportunities among like-minded organizations and add additional voices to the education discussion.
Article IX – Budget
Added language to increase fiscal accountability and improve the fiscal health of the organization.
Article XII – Local Councils as Affiliate Units
Section 1 – Local councils
Added provision for a liaison member from CASCD Leadership Council.
