California ASCD, an affiliate unit of International ASCD, actively seeks membership from all segments of the educational community. Membership is made up of superintendents, school site and district administrators, principals, teachers, university professors, and students. There are currently over 6,000 subscribers.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of California ASCD is to promote the advancement of education by

1. Improving the educational process by helping members become more effective in their various roles as leaders in education.

2. Disseminating information about exemplary curriculum practices through a communication system of E-briefs, publications, workshops, and various other services.

3. Providing programs specifically designed to relate activities to students, their needs, and programs at all levels – preschool through adult education.

4. Working cooperatively with other state associations to provide effective education programs for the children in the State of California.

5. Cooperating and working with teachers, students, and the public so that the needs of the learner and the community may be best served.

ACTIVITIES & AWARDS:

E-briefs furnish timely announcements on state and local events related to curriculum and instruction.
Regional conferences/workshops cover topics relevant to local needs and reduce travel costs.
Diverse professional network enables members to share state-of-the-art resources, face challenges together, and explore new ideas.
