When:  April 24, 2023  Webinar

Time:  6:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (Pacific Time)

Institute Description:

Using the Ready for Rigor Framework as our guide, this day-long session will focus on building teachers' capacity to coach students away from dependent learning toward cognitively independent learning.

We will begin with a short, high-level overview of the key processes for getting students ready to take on more rigorous content or to accelerate literacy skills.  Then we will do a deep dive into four (4) key instructional moves to integrate into daily practice.

Institute Description:

Expected Outcomes:

  • Understand the algorithm for building student capacity with culturally responsive pedagogies based on the Ready for Rigor(R) frame.
  • Use collectiveist learning principles in order to make any instructional strategy more culturally responsive.
  • Implement at least two (2) classroom structures and/or instructional moves consistent with collectivist learning principles to prepare the learning environment and students for increased autonomy.
  • Increase productive struggle without trauma or stress for dependent learners using habit formation and behavior design while still supporting the growth of on-grade level students.
  • Create a 90-day plan for shifting instructional practices.
Who Should Attend?
  • Teachers, teacher-leaders, coaches, and leaders whose districts are working to integrate culturally responsive pedagogy into teaching and learning, but who want to see more impact on improving student learning at the classroom level.
  • Educators who have done the personal work on increasing their racial literacy, and have read all of the Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain  (not just excerpts).  Add a copy of the book "Culturally Responsive Teaching & the Brain" for $36.95 (each).

Educators at all grade levels.  We will address instruction at the early grades, upper grades, middle school and early high school (9th & 10th grade).

IF YOU ARE JUST REGISTERING A PARTICIPANT(S) AND NOT ATTENDING YOURSELF, PLEASE DO NOT ENTER YOUR INFORMATION.  YOU WILL BE LISTED AS AN ATTENDEE AND THE INVOICE WILL REFLECT A FEE.
